PRESIDENT OBAMA SIGNS TRAVEL PROMOTION ACT INTO LAW
For Immediate Release:
Reid hails formation of agency to promote tourism to the U.S., Nevada

Washington, D.C.—Nevada Senator Harry Reid today joined President Barack Obama in the Oval office as he signed the Travel Promotion Act of 2009 into law. This bill, which Reid led to passage in the Senate, creates a public-private corporation to promote tourism to the United States, and uses the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority’s model for marketing Las Vegas as a tourist destination around the world.

“We know that when international visitors plan their trips to America, Nevada will be at the top of their list,” Reid said. “By promoting our nation as a tourist destination, we will give our state’s economy a shot in the arm, put Nevadans back to work, and reduce the deficit by $425 million in the next decade.”
