First-Ever Company Wide Sales Meeting in Las Vegas
A large New-Jersey based pharmaceutical company and the production company The 180 Group undertook an extraordinary endeavor as they set out to plan for the company’s first ever company-wide sales meeting at the Venetian Resort & Casino in Las Vegas in 2009. This year, rather than holding divisional sales meetings, the company decided to call the entire sales team together, to highlight successes and to introduce new initiatives for the coming year. With an estimated attendance of 3500, a large general session, over 50 mini General Sessions, several Vice President’s dinners and hundreds of breakouts, the client knew that they would need to select the right partners to execute on such a large scale.

As JL Lagestee, Senior Account Executive for PSAV National Accounts, began working on the proposal, it became clear that PSAV’s Show Solutions Division was best equipped to handle the General Session, while the Convention and Trade Show Division (CTS) was perfectly positioned to manage the high volume of breakout meetings. PSAV’s comprehensive proposal included the services of Show Solutions and CTS, with the local Event Services Division on standby for any last-minute requests, all directed by Lagestee as the main point of contact to his clients. The single point of contact for all meetings was truly an advantage that PSAV offered.
“Of the 251 Breakout Meetings,” explained Lagestee, “213 were guest sleeping rooms, converted for this meeting. We worked very closely with The 180 Group, the meeting planners, the hotel’s engineering and security departments and our operations team to ensure that the execution and staffing was seamless from start to finish.” PSAV also managed an affiliated event for another company which included a general session, breakouts and evening events with live musicians. “I knew we could draw on the company’s resources to take on this additional program and provide the same level of service to all of The 180 Group’s clients,” recalls Lagestee.
All in all, the sales meeting consisted of a general session reconfigured into two larger meetings, over 50 mini General sessions, 215 breakout sessions, 8 VP Dinner Events and many high-profile auxiliary meetings, with countless revisions, changes and additions throughout. Technology at the event included six-screen rear projection in a wide-screen format using Barco R20 projectors and a Spyder Switching system with custom picture-in-picture graphics, 129 intelligent lights including Mac 2K’s, Mac 700’s and LED color blasters, line-array audio systems, and scenic elements including fiber-optic curtains and custom staging. From start to finish, the PSAV team was on-site for 9 days and the program was executed with outstanding results.
