Las Vegas 51s Baseball Team
The Las Vegas 51s have the proud distinction of being the longest enduring franchise in the history of professional sports in the state of Nevada. Las Vegas Triple-A baseball was born on April 10, 1983, before a crowd of 10,622 at Cashman Field. The 2012 season marks the 30th campaign in the Silver State (1983 - 2011).

The 51s pride themselves on giving back to the community of Las Vegas and helping numerous school functions, charities and organizations strive to make the Las Vegas Valley a better place to live.

"The 51s franchise is dedicated to being a community partner, and we need to give back to the city that we play in," 51s Executive Director Don Logan says. "We have provided fun and exciting entertainment during the summer months for the citizens of Southern Nevada for 29 seasons, and 51s baseball is a very important entity in this community."

The Las Vegas franchise annually coordinates mascot appearances for Cosmo and donates team merchandise and/or discounted game tickets to many schools, businesses and charities. The 51s also schedule seasonal player appearances at schools and visits to children's hospitals as well as conduct Little League Baseball Clinics at Cashman Field and the Cox Communications School Day.

The Las Vegas 51s staff also volunteer their time to read to school children during Nevada Reading Week, answer phones during KLVX Channel 10's public television pledge drive and assist KXMB and Mix FM 94.1 with their Four Corners Food Drive during the holidays.

Through the years, the 51s have assisted many organizations, including the American Cancer Society; Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer, Nevada Diabetes Association and American Heart Association (Tip A 51 Luncheon); Boys & Girls Club; Desert Research Institute (Nevada Medal Dinner); Goodwill of Southern Nevada; Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon); Las Vegas Police Protective Association Metro, Inc.; Las Vegas Natural History Museum; Las Vegas nursing facilities (National Nursing Home Week); Lied Discovery Children's Museum; Make-A-Wish Foundation; March of Dimes (WalkAmerica event); Nevada Child Seekers; Nevada Commission for National & Community Service; Ronald McDonald House Charities; University of Nevada, Las Vegas National Youth Sports Programs; Rape Crisis Center; The Shade Tree; and the Southern Nevada affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Organization.
