Spa Savvy Meetings

The trend of including spas into meetings and events is growing every year. Spas and other lifestyle-oriented programs have become a must-have for meetings and events. Meetings and events include spa packages in guest service programs and others offer spa treatments to wrap up a long affair.

Meeting planners and spa directors often emphasize that working within a tight budget or time frame doesn’t automatically prohibit members of groups from enjoying the spa experience. Spa treatments are no longer a privilege for the wealthy, but are becoming a staple for many walks of life.

As with every other aspect of a group program, a successful spa activity requires detailed planning. Spa experts offer several important tips for meeting planners who are considering incorporating spa retreats into their meetings or events:

  • Prepare specific information. Spas need to know the expected number of guests, time allowances, attendee demographics and budget limitations.
  • Work closely with spa directors and experts. A good spa director should be able to give realistic treatments that are right for the program theme, time guidelines and price restrictions. Also, it is important to coordinate the spa schedule with the time of day and goal of the meeting. Spa directors can offer many suggestions as to what treatments are good for first-timers and both men and women.
  • Ask about extras such as lounge areas, gym facilities and refreshments. Make sure to ask what is included in the price of the treatment, including any gratuities.
  • Offer options. Spa treatments can be very intimidating to some guests. It is crucial to offer a mix of services that are designed for both beginner and expert spa guests. Offering options will make guests feel more comfortable and ensure a pleasant experience for all.
  • Many spas offer “signature services” to guests. Be sure to check with the spa about any specialties or highly-acclaimed treatments.

Las Vegas is home to some of the most lavish and stylish spa resorts in the world. The following are some of the best spas in Las Vegas:

  • Spa Bellagio at The Bellagio- The Spa Bellagio offers 56 treatment rooms, including four couples rooms, in which to receive a variety of distinct services such as facials, body scrubs, wraps, peels and massages. Another unique massage is the Watsu, which is performed in a special room. Watsu is an aquatic massage combining stretches of Zen Shiatsu and the element of floating in warm water.
  • Qua Baths and Spa at Caesars Palace- The 50,000-square-foot facility features 51 treatment rooms, 35 massage studios, three deluxe couple’s suites and seven facial rooms. Qua also offers two hydrotherapy tubs, three Vichy showers and a Swarovski crystal body art room.
  • Harrah’s Spa- Harrah’s includes separate men's and women's spa areas that include steam rooms, showers, hot tubs, wet and dry saunas, lockers and complimentary toiletries. Guests can also enjoy one of the six massage rooms or the facial and body treatment areas.
  • Destination Salon and Spa- Ranging from two to more than four hours long, spa packages are available and can be customized to fit the needs of each client. This newly remodeled spa features three spacious treatment rooms.

Spa programs are a sure way to encourage attendance at an event and Las Vegas is the perfect place to make guest feel pampered. On average, attendance increases 18% when conventions rotate into Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). Las Vegas’ reputation as a world-class destination for entertainment, spa retreats, fabulous hotels and luxury dining pays dividends for meeting and event sponsors.
